Bachelor of Science in Public Health

About Temple University
At the request of a young man in Philadelphia, Russell Conwell, a minister in the area, began tutoring him in the evening in 1884. Not long after, Conwell found himself teaching several working adults who were unable to attend class during the day and could only attend at night. Classes were held in the basement of the Baptist temple where Conwell taught.
The school grew, leading Conwell to obtain a charter for Temple College in 1888. The name came from the humble beginnings of his school which had an objective to teach anyone who wanted to work toward a college degree, regardless of background or financial situation. The charter was granted by the City of Philadelphia but they did not grant the school the ability to confer degrees.
Today, there are more than 38,000 students attending Temple University the school has been named one of the country’s most comprehensive and diverse universities.

Temple University Application Requirements
Applicants to the Bachelor of Science in Public Health must provide official high school transcripts as well as official ACT or SAT scores. Applicants with college credit after high school should also provide official college transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. Those transferring more than 15 credits must have a GPA of 3.1 and do not need to provide ACT or SAT scores.
Applicants to graduate programs in Public Health must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university. They must have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0. Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended must be provided.
Temple University Tuition and Financial Aid
Full-time tuition for the undergraduate public health program is $19,536 per year for Pennsylvania residents and $34,056 for non-residents. Graduate tuition for public health degrees is $988 per credit hour for Pennsylvania residents and non-residents is $1,358 per credit hour.
Once students are accepted into Temple University, they are automatically reviewed for scholarships and those who have a GPA of 3.3 or higher are more likely to be awarded scholarships. All students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify. The form must be renewed each year. Aid may be offered in the form of grants, loans or work study programs as well.
