At the Health Sciences Building, the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health offers a 120-credit BS in Public Health for Indiana University-Purdue University Jaguars to specialize in Community Health, Epidemiology, and Global Health Protection majors with two eight-week practica for CHES certification. Chaired by Dr. Paul Halverson, the BS in Environmental Health Science builds a 120-credit, EHAC-accredited curriculum that requires 240 fieldwork hours with the Centers for Disease Control, National Institute of Health, State of Indiana, and more. Online on Canvas, the MS in Global Health & Sustainable Development has a 30-credit, 16-month plan with live courses like Food Safety and Community Resilience plus overseas trips from Denmark to the Dominican Republic. Headed by Dr. Constantin Yiannoutsos, the MS in Biostatistics has the Hoosier State’s only such 36-credit, ASA-aligned track with hands-on Center of Community Health Engagement & Equity Research projects for an average $84,760 salary.
Ranked 62nd by the U.S. News & World Report, the Master of Public Health has a 45-credit, CEPH-accredited sequence with a capstone 400-hour internship in five concentrations: Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Health Policy & Management, Informatics, or Social & Behavioral Sciences. Directed by Dr. Ann Johnston, the Master of Health Administration is a 51-credit, CAHME-approved program that combines 500-level courses from Health Economics to Population Health before the capstone project for 100 percent full-time job placement. Each Fall, the DrPH in Global Health Leadership starts a 45-credit, post-master’s online cohort of 12-15 scholars for 36 months of seminars like Fundraising and field-based projects. Overseen by Dr. Justin Blackburn, the 90-credit Ph.D. in Public Health tailors emphases for Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Health Policy & Management with dissertation research.

Indiana University-Purdue University Accreditation Details
On September 19, 2017, the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association (HLC-NCA) accepted the Fifth-Year Assurance Review Report from Indiana University-Purdue University to continue the Level VI accreditation through the next 2022-23 cycle under President Mitchell E. Daniels Jr., JD, who earned the ACTA Philip Merrill Award. Located 182 miles north via Interstate 65 in Chicago, this huge 19-state Heartland Region accreditor is recognized by the U.S. Education Department to evaluate IUPUI’s nine associate, 97 baccalaureate, 97 master’s, and 45 doctoral degrees. Further, the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health was accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) on June 13, 2015. The Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC) has approved Indiana-Purdue since 2006. The Master of Health Administration is also accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) through Fall 2025.

Admission at Indiana University-Purdue University is classified as “moderately difficult” by Peterson’s since 10,820 of the 13,339 Fall 2018 applicants were selected for 81 percent acceptance. First-year Jaguars seeking the BS in Public Health and BS in Environmental Health Science need a Core 40 diploma or GED certificate. The Class of 2022 had a high school GPA average of 3.46. The middle 50th percentile had ACT scores of 19-26. Mid-range admitted SAT scores were 1000-1200. Starting in 2021, entrance will be test-optional for freshmen with GPAs above 3.0. Fairbanks School of Public Health transfers must have minimum 2.50 GPAs in 26+ accredited credits. Accelerated 4+1 BSPH/MPH degrees require at least 3.50 cumulative GPAs. Graduate programs mandate a 3.0 or better GPA in bachelor’s or advanced education. The MS in Biostatistics has four prerequisite courses, including Calculus and Linear Algebra. Minimum GRE scores of 146 quantitative and 150 verbal are necessary. The Online DrPH in Global Health Leadership also requires five years of managerial experience.
Indiana University-Purdue University has an Early Action deadline of November 1st for freshmen. Regular Decision deadlines are May 1st for Fall and December 1st for Spring. The Master of Public Health admits U.S. residents until July 1st and international students until April 1st. Online MPH cohorts must file by December 1st. The MS in Biostatistics closes on June 1st. Master of Health Administrative entrants should apply before February 15th. DrPH in Global Health Leadership candidates are considered through April 1st. Tuition and Financial Aid

Public health funds include the Samuel Hopper Scholarship, Ken & Cindy Stella Scholarship, Outrun the Sun Scholarship, May’s Family RISE Scholarship, Richard Fairbanks Study Abroad Scholarship, Addison Scholarship, Edna Munro Fellowship, Johnston Hobbs Scholarship, Garrett Eppley Scholarship, Margaret Seberger Fellowship, Lohrmann Family Scholarship, and Witkemper Memorial Scholarship. The Adam Herbert Presidential Scholarship provides $12,000 annually to Honors College freshmen with minimum 1310 SAT or 28 ACT scores. The $13,000 Norman Brown Diversity & Leadership Scholarship assists undergrads of underrepresented minorities with minimum 3.20 GPAs. Federal programs, such as the Pell Grant or Graduate Plus Loan, require FAFSA applications coded 001813.
