Cardiovascular Technician

A cardiology career as a cardiovascular technician is a career where someone who works hands-on with patients using state-of-the-art equipment and technology to assess and test their various cardiovascular conditions. The use of sophisticated equipment is a major component here, while patient management and bedside manner also rank high in importance. For those considering a career in this area, it may be of further interest to know that this job is expected to grow in its demand for workers by approximately 10 percent through the coming years,  according to the US News and World Report.

The cardiovascular surgeon is quite arguably the most hands-on cardiology career professional in all of cardiology. This is essentially a master cardiologist who is capable of performing surgical procedures on the  heart and cardiovascular system surgeries and advanced procedures. Surgical procedures including open heart surgery, bypass surgery, and valve replacement are just a few of the terms and procedures handled by this doctor. Extensive schooling is certainly required to become a cardiac surgeon, but subsequent pay rates, the noble nature of the work, and various other benefits make this a prestigious position in the medical industry without doubt.

Cardiologist

Cardiologists are quite similar in their knowledge and expertise to the above-discussed role of the cardiac surgeon. However, while both roles are incredibly important and both types of workers will interact and work together on cases regularly, the key difference is that cardiologists aren’t always capable of or in the simultaneous practice of performing actual cardiac surgery. Cardiologists generally function more as the heart doctors that patients go to see in an office setting, nonetheless a critical role unto its own.

Clinical Nurse Specialist

Per the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, clinical nurse specialists are essentially nurses who are specialized to a particular area of practice. As such, there is a constant need for nurses like this, specialized in cardiology matters specifically, to work all throughout the cardiology/medical sector. Places of employment for these professionals include doctors’ offices, hospitals, wellness centers, diagnostic centers, and many others as well.

There are also many, great, cardiology-based careers to be had in the non-profit sector. One great example of such an employer is the American Heart Association. This non-profit alone employs a substantial industry of many diverse workers in the name of ultimately solving the puzzle that is human cardiovascular health and sustainability. From doctors to researchers, from call center workers to administrators and even financial strategists, the ways in which to help the greater cardiovascular cause in these types of organizations is great.
